The Golden Rule

Thanks to everyone who worshipped with us on Friday morning. The chilly weather seemed to have added an extra dose of pep to the group!

Has anyone noticed our Seventh Graders seem to win a large percentage of the grade level competitions in FCA? With a continued strong lead in the Cans for Hope drive, it was no surprise to have their grade representative achieve victory in Friday's Oreo Cookie Challenge by almost effortlessly managing to get the Oreo from his forehead into his mouth using only facial expression changes/movements. Nicely done!

The Cans for Hope Drive continues (and 8th graders, let's get it going on!) through the end of the month. The Big Winners will be announced on Friday, November 5, 2010.

Nate Turner from West Cobb Church spoke on the age old, but always relevant, Golden Rule. Nate's message went beyond the simple, do unto others....it touched on the words we use with and about each other. Have you ever noticed a friend poking fun at what someone else is wearing, doing, saying, making that person look like less because somehow we think this makes us look better? Making fun of our friends and peers is hurtful and it only makes us look bad. Let's find ways to build up our friends and peers. Let's speak to and about them in a way that makes us all more.

THANK YOU to all the kids who participated in the JDRF walk in Piedmont Park on Saturday to honor our very own Shelby Crouse. For more information on juvenile diabetes and how you can help, please visit www.jdrf.org

Join us this Friday for another great morning together, and please also join us in the auditorium on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. for the New Believers' Meeting. This special event* is open to all who are interested in finding out more about how to establish a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

*Pit Crew will be combined with the New Believers' meeting.
